Microbot WOW is the one and only home of the AI Companions. Companions are highly advanced AI characters you can hire at inns to fill out your group. They can perform any role in your group to help you solo a dungeon, complete a hard quest, fight foes in a battleground, or even conquer fearsome raid bosses. The Companions are designed to be mostly hands-off; they deal with their gear/consumables/XP/talents on their own so you do not need to worry about them. However, learning to manage their AI with our custom commands is the key to your success. Once you reach level 60, you can upgrade and specialize your Companions as you progress into the endgame so they will grow alongside you. We know the Microbot Companions are the most advanced AI in the World of Warcraft because they are under active development and are constantly being tweaked and improved over time. You can help contribute to their development by joining the server and posting suggestions you think of on the Discord.

Follow these steps to join Microbot and start playing with the Companions and our other custom features.

1. Create an Account

Visit the website at https://microbot-wow.net/ and create an account by clicking the "Register" button on the right side.

2. Download the Client

You have two choices for the client. You can download our Microbot client, which has a few extra features pre-installed (but nothing you can't get on your own), or you can use your own client. Either works fine. However only the 1.12 client is supported. Other clients may not work without issues.

2a. Microbot Client

You can download our client from the same website or from the Discord. This client is just a 1.12 client that is already set up for you with everything you need to play the server. The advantages of downloading the client is that it includes:

• Our custom Companion addon plus a few other handy but nonessential addons
• Realmlist is already set up for you
• Includes the HD models for 1.12 and HD water fan patches, plus a version of the wow.exe file that has the "Large Address Aware" patch so it can make use of model changes

If you don't enjoy the HD patches, you can disable them by going into your World of Warcraft/Data folder and removing these MPQs or renaming the extension (e.g. rename patch-3.mpq to patch-3.mpq.bak):

2b. Any other 1.12 client

If you already have a 1.12 client, all you need to do is open the realmlist.wtf file in your main WOW folder and change all text to:

set realmlist logon.microbot-wow.net

If you go this route, its highly recommended to download the Companion and Context Menus addons and install it the normal way by putting it in your Interface/Addons folder.

3. Create a Character

As mentioned in the list of custom features, Microbot is a fully cross-faction server, so pick whatever race you enjoy. Also, please do not worry about long-term raid viability - the existence of the Companions means that literally any spec is viable for group play, since you can always hire some powerful Companions. So if you ever wanted to be a Boomkin, Shockadin, Sub Rogue, or even Shaman Tank, you can enjoy that playstyle here. There are also powerful custom legendary items to discover which elevate many meme specs.

4. Hire a Companion

There will be a NPC in the starting area with a <Companions> tag (he's usually under a tent near the starting vendors and quest givers). Hopefully you should be able to see him from the very spot you log in for the first time. From this NPC, you can hire a Companion. Companions are AI-controlled characters, significantly more advanced than any other existing bot project, that can help you in all aspects of the game. Microbot is the only WOW server with the highly advanced Companion AI.

At level 1, the cost will be only 1 copper per Companion (you can sell your starting food to hire one right away), but the price will increase as you level, up to a few gold by lvl 60. This eventually becomes a minor gold sink, similar to repairs, but you can earn money much faster with a Companion's help than you could on your own, so it evens out. If the server ever crashes, you will automatically receive a refund on your Companion's hiring cost in the mail. You can hire a max of four Companions from each character on your account.

Your Companions will help you fight automatically, but you can give them direct orders with .z commands or the Companion addon. Some more advanced commands are available through whispers.

To unlock more companions, you will need to complete 'The Basics' quest line (from the NPC with the <Companions> tag) which will teach you how to use some of the available .z commands and how to use your companions. The Basics II through IV are unlocked as you level, with IV being unlocked at level 14.

The first quest starts in the starting zone called "The Basics I" - this quest can be turned in at any major city inn companion npc after completion, the other 'Basics' quests can be acquired from the companions npc in any major city inn.

Completing these quests will unlock the ability to use more companions up to a maximum of 4 at level 14.

The quests are:

• The Basics II
• The Basics III
• The Basics IV

Followed by some more 'Basics' quests that'll teach you some other features of the server:

5. Join the Community

There are several ways to engage with the Microbot community.

• The primary way to communicate with the entire community is with the Microbot Discord channel. In the Discord you can talk in our general chat, sign up for raids, report bugs, trade with other players, see who has the profession recipes you need, and much more.
• When you first create a character, you should be automatically placed into the <Companions> guild, which is an easy way to communicate in-game with most players, get help with any questions you might have, and maybe even get some free bags from a friendly 60.
• The login message will also show you how to access the World channel (just type /join world in chat). Even if you decide to join or make your own guild, World chat lets you stay connected with the community in-game.

This page will eventually list the hiring cost of each companion at every level and dungeon/raid tier.

This is an introduction to leveling with mob tagging and companions.

Introduction

Your first reaction to leveling with companions will be: this is expensive, no thanks.
However, you have to remember two things:

• you will get your money back by looting items and selling them
• you wil save time which will enable you to make more cash in the long run with your freshly baked level 60 chars

Disclaimer

The topic of leveling using mobtagging and companions ultimatively intersects with the topic of multiboxing per se.
You do not have to become a professional multiboxer that knows all the tricks.
All you need to learn is how to set up 2 keys and start the wow processes for all the chars you want to level.
Remember there is a 7 day free trial for isboxer if you have never used it before and it will make life much easier: it contains a wizard to set up your leveling team which creates broadcasts for all keys automatically. Note that the 1.12.1 wow client cannot use the macros that the isboxer addon creates. It is safe to disable the isboxer addon. You will have to create your own follow and assist macros.

The macros and knowledge in this wiki page is the result of the collaboration and knowledge exchange of more than 20 players in the Nyctermoon WoW discord. Providing an extensive list of all these players and their particular contribution would be futile.

Group composition

Leveling group

The leveling group can be actively played or passively played on follow.
In this case they are only needed for triggering the opener key that initiates the tagging damage to the enemy mobs.
Note that the optimal group size is 4 chars. This will give the best party bonus and make playing with a tagger companion tank easy.

Damage group

A typical Tyrs Hand damage group consists of 20 Tier0 companions:

• 4 shaman healers
• 16 dps warriors

If you have 10 level 60 chars the price for this raid will be 25 gold.
If you do not have enough level 60 chars for this damage group then ask people in the guild chat and on discord for help!

What is mobtagging?

Tagging is the act of damaging the mob so that you gain XP when the mob dies.
You can pull aggro from a mob (by getting near or shooting at a mob that resists the damage) without tagging it.
It is not possible in wow to tag a mob for another group or raid, the damage must originate in your group.

It is possible to actively play the character of the group you are leveling or actively play the leader of the raid or group that is responsible for killing mobs once they have been "tagged".

We can benefit from tagging by using a group of 5 chars (more than 5 and the XP penalty will be too high) or, as recommended, using a group of 4 chars and one companion tank, preferably a druid due to their superior aoe tagging damage.

Using a group of 4 chars and one companion tank is faster because you can send it around "collecting" mobs and tagging them and then pulling the tank back into the 16 warrior cleave meat grinder. Also using the companion tank for corner pulling and entering rooms of buildings is much faster and will prevent a lot of unwanted and time wasting deaths of your leveling group.

Macros

Focusmark

Take the companion tank of the leveling group into your target on all chars of the dps group.

Revive spam

There exists a better, more intelligent version, of this macro in the addons channel in discord.
This is just smaller and can be used without the SuperMacro addon.
Put all the healers in your leader group.
Make sure you target the DEAD person and run the macro to autowhisper your healers.
This only works on companions you own (hired or transferred to you). But you can run it on all your chars as long as their healer is in the same group.

Active tagging group macros

The role of your active group is to tag the mobs.
Put this code in a macro and assign a key to shoot at the mobs and run the macro.
If you want to play it really safe and avoid aggro you can also just run the macro and let the companion tank in your leveling group do the work.

Passive DPS group macros

This code must run on all chars of your DPS group.
The purpose of this macro is to let the companions in the DPS group know the current target.

Active group and passive group

By combining the macros it is possible to play the tagging group and dps group in two different combinations.
Both has advantages and disadvantages and should be used depending on level of companion tank, level of enemy mobs and level of tagging group.

scenario 1: active group is tagger, passive group is shooter

The advantage is that you can always loot and control what is happening at all times. The passive group is on assist/follow and will always be behind you. As soon as an enemy attacks you they will get into melee range of the dps group.
The disadvantage is that you are the first to get in range of the aggro of the enemy mobs. If they are 10 levels above you that is bad.

scenario 2: active group is shooter, passive group is tagger

The only disadvantage to this approach is that you lose gold. You will not be able to loot as the shooter group.
The advantage is that it is extremely safe (enemy mobs must get past you to attack the leveling group) and much much faster in terms of damage distribution and crowd control. You can basically strafe the mob groups with the companion tank of the tagger group and keep moving because the warrior meat grinder will eat them once their aggro jumps to your healers.

Using multiple personal computers for tagging and dps group

Apart from using isboxer in multi-pc configuration it is possible to use a foot pedal or another input device for pressing the tagging key and/or the damage key.

Your hands will control the mouse and keyboard of one pc and your foot will press the pedal for the tagging key on the other pc for example.

USB based pedals cost as little as 20 Euro. You can also pick up an old damaged USB keyboard at one of your friends and remove all keycaps but the spacebar or some other big key. Put it on the ground to your feet and it becomes a pedal.

Parting thoughts

It is possible to have two humans perform mob tagging.
This is the fastest (and most expensive in terms of time and gold) method.
One player controls and moves the tagging/leveling group and runs only one macro: /assist Xotli and spam .z start on the companion pet.
This player does not /follow or select targets.
His role is to survive and loot.
The other player manages the damage group, selects new targets and waits for gray target unitframes (and indicator that the mob was tagged) and then hits the attack key.
This way the companion tank in the leveling group will keep attacking and attacking and keep on tagging while the other player can guide the dps group into maximum damage and movement ahead of the leveling group.

This approach has one disadvantage (wastes time of two players) but has a major advantage: it is the safest and fastest method because you do not need to expose the leveling group by being close to the damage group. The reason of course is that both groups are independently controlled and guided by two humans.

Running Dungeons

Corner Pulling

Corner pulling is the most important tactic to know how to do in a dungeon. This refers to aggroing a mob and then moving out of its line of sight, so it will run to your location instead of using ranged attacks. Even if you know the mobs don't use ranged attacks, this tactic is safe because it clumps up the mobs in a tight group and eliminates the risk of pulling nearby packs or patrols.

The first thing you should always do is have your party stay behind some part of the environment that breaks line of sight with the enemy, most commonly something like around the corner of an extruding wall. When they are safely staying put, there are several viable ways you can proceed.

• The most basic is simply to run out yourself, pull an enemy, and run back to the corner. Tanks are usually pretty good at picking up mobs asap, so this usually works if you're in a hurry.
• If you want to be a bit safer, you can use the .z pull command to send the tank out to pull a mob. Then once the mob is aggroed, use .z comestay to bring the tank back into the corner, and optionally use .z start to prematurely end the pull's pause on your DPS Companions and allow them to attack before the 10 second pause is up. This method is depicted in the video to the right (if the timestamp doesn't work for you, the explanation starts around 20:18).
• One weakness of the above method is that it will make the tank bodypull or charge in to the group of mobs, potentially pulling more than you expect. The safest, albeit slowest, method possible is to force your tank to use their ranged attack to pull the mobs at range. You can do this by staying the tank in range to pull, using the cast whisper to command them to use their ranged attack, and comestaying them back into the corner once they have pulled. The initial stay is necessary to prevent your tank from charging in to the group of mobs immediately after pulling. There is a macro to automate most of this on the Macros page.

Even outside of corner pulling, you should generally use stay or comestay often to prevent your Companions from running off and bodypulling other packs.

Use raid marks

Using raid marks is a great strategy in dungeons. Companions will pay attention to the marks you use and their AI will react to them. By default, Companions will focus damage on the 💀 skull mark and CC the 🌙 moon mark. But you can use the .z focusmark and .z ccmark commands to change these settings for each Companion. Read those entries for more details about how Companions react to raid marks.

Soulstone

Warlock Companions will automatically Soulstone you. This is a great way to recover from a wipe, and makes warlocks a nice Companion to bring if you aren't sure of your dungeon skills. You can change who your warlock sets their soulstone on by whispering them "set soulstone on [name]".

Bring CC suited for the dungeon

This is more of a general WOW tip, but since you have complete control over your party's makeup, if you want to add more safety to your dungeon run you can always bring a class that can CC most of the mobs in the dungeon. Companion mages can sheep humanoids and beasts, warlocks can banish demons and elementals (and fear anything), druids can hibernate beasts and dragonkin, priests can shackle undead, and paladins can turn undead. They can do some others in a pinch, but these are the most reliable.

Blacklist dangerous spells

You can use the deny whisper to prevent your Companions from ever being able to use a certain spell. Some great candidates for this command are:

• A mage's Blink (otherwise, he might Blink into a pack of enemies)
• A warlock's Fear (if you aren't using it as a primary CC - it can be a great CC if you plan for it)
• A warrior's Intimidating Shout, a warlock's Howl of Terror, or a priest's Psychic Scream (fearing a group of enemies is always a bit chaotic; sometimes useful but sometimes causes a wipe)
• A priest's Shadow Protection or Fear Ward (not really dangerous, but if you know a dungeon doesn't involve any shadow damage or fears, it's just a waste of their mana to keep rebuffing it)

Clear dungeons faster by not hiring a pure healer

Once you feel comfortable with your dungeon skills, consider increasing your party's DPS by not hiring a Companion in the Healer role. Instead, hire a hybrid dps who has healing skills, like a ret paladin or balance druid, and leave them in their DPS role. Especially at low levels, these classes can easily maintain the party's HP while contributing a respectable amount of DPS (not as much as some other classes, but much more than holy priest wanding). They are coded to heal when a party member hits a certain threshold (50% by default, but you can raise this with the set offheal whisper.) All Companions come with an infinite stock of mana potions (though they're still limited by cooldown) and will intelligently downrank their healing spells to efficiently meter out their mana, so you usually don't need to worry about their mana unless you over-pull.

The following is the editor's personal ranking of the offhealers:

It's possible to complete every 5man in the game without a pure healer, though at higher levels, it requires skillful use of quick .z command macros to ensure you only pull exactly what you want. At low levels, you can 4-man dungeons to get more XP for yourself while maintaining as much DPS as you would in a normal 5-man.

Making and Saving Money

Probably the most discussed topic, since affording the Companion upgrades at level 60 is a significant goal. Nyctermoon is not and will never be a pay-to-win server, so you cannot just buy gold, you have to earn it through in-game activities. Here are some of the most common ways to save and earn gold, both while leveling and at 60.

Use the Marketer

This is the most important thing to do to make money for both 60s and levelers. The server has a custom module called Marketer that will buy almost anything you post on the Auction House for 2x the amount you would get for vendoring it (except greys). It's really profitable to sell your unwanted loot to the Marketer instead of to vendors.

There is also a special addon for this server that will help you with this by automatically defaulting your buyout price to that 2x vendor price, so that you don't need to do any math.

To start, you can make a great profit by looting a dungeon and selling the greens. At level 60, Stratholme seems to be the most profitable dungeon to farm greens from, but you can make good money while leveling too - enough to comfortably buy your mounts as soon as you hit the required level. You can also convert your cloth drops into bolts/bandages and sell those (bolts are more profitable at low level, bandages are more profitable at high level).

You can also get a pretty good return from selling the items you make while leveling your professions. And nobody has really discovered the best ones yet, but the Marketer should theoretically make it possible to make a great profit from selling certain crafts with a low material investment but a high vendor price.

Don't train every spell rank while leveling

This is a pretty classic vanilla tip, but one you might not know if you are not so familiar with vanilla WOW. There are many spells with ranks that are useless to buy past the first one. For example, on a Rogue, you don't need any more than the first rank of Kick, since the you only need the first rank to interrupt a spell cast, and further ranks only add on a tiny amount of damage. If you are really familiar with your class, you might want to even skip some spells entirely.

Don't learn every profession recipe you can

On Nyctermoon, you can learn all 9 primary professions. It's a great idea to learn all the professions, but be careful about which recipes you learn while leveling. It can be tempting to just spam the Learn button, but this can really eat into your gold. Instead, only learn those recipes that will help you level or make a good profit. You can use a guide like the one on WoW-professions to level your professions efficiently, but keep in mind you don't need to follow these guides to the letter. This server has some tweaked profession skill rates so you will level a profession with generally less than half as many materials as you would normally.

Get big bags

Bigger bags = more loot = more money.

While leveling, you can level Tailoring to craft bags. If you play with a Companion that can heal you, the First Aid profession and bandages aren't really a high priority anymore, so it's fine to prioritize your cloth for Tailoring.

Or, you can whisper a friendly 60 or post in the Discord to see if anyone can craft you some Runecloth Bags.

Make a bank alt

It's tedious to run back to the auction house every time you want to sell stuff to the Marketer, but mailboxes are all over the place. Make an alt and park it in a city near the AH, then just mail it everything you want to sell. This server has instant mail delivery so you will immediately get your items to sell.

Some suggestions about your bank alt:

• Since you can make accounts freely, consider making your alt on a separate account so that you don't have to log out. You will lose your hired Companions if you log out intentionally. This is done for server stability and will probably never change.
• Make multiple bank alts to hold all the crafting materials you collect while leveling up, like ore, skins, herbs, etc. Having access to a bank of materials rather than having to scrounge around or buy them will make powerleveling your professions much easier and cheaper.
• The best places to keep your alt are Ironforge on Alliance side, and Thunder Bluff on Horde side. These have the shortest distance between the mailbox/bank/AH. Since Nyctermoon is cross-faction, it doesn't matter that much, but it's nice to have your alt on the same faction as your main so you can directly trade items without needing to pay the mail fee.
• Use the Gmail addon to efficiently send a large amount of items at once.

Valuable crafts

Some professions have extra value because they have time-gated crafts or have specializations that only some players will be able to make. Although you can learn all primary professions on the same character, you can't learn all the specializations, you have to choose just one, like normal. If you can provide time-gated crafts or certain exclusive recipes, you should be able to find someone who can pay for that service.

• Tailoring
  • Mooncloth time-gated craft. Needed for the 26 slot bag and the double xp shirt, so it's always in demand.
• Alchemy
  • Arcanite Bar time-gated craft. Needed for the 26 slot bag and many endgame recipes.
• Leatherworking
  • Refined Deeprock Salt time-gated craft, which is used to craft Cured Rugged Hide. Needed for many end-game recipes. Leatherworking also allows you to choose one of three exclusive specializations. Tribal is probably the most valuable for the Devilsaur set and Hide of the Wild which are pre-raid BIS items for many classes.
• Blacksmithing and Engineering
  • Like Leatherworking, these professions allow you to choose an exclusive specialization, but to be honest, you probably won't make much of a profit from them. Mentioned more for completeness, although they can certainly add a lot of personal power to your character.

Open-world farming

The Companions make open-world farming a snap. When you have the strength of 5 characters, you can kill regular mobs significantly faster and almost nothing can stand up to you. Dungeons are still the fastest, but if you want a change of pace, there are some other places that have good drops.

• Tyr's Hand in Eastern Plaguelands
  • The mobs are tough elites so you definitely need at least a couple Companions, but each one carries around 15 silver which really adds up if you can kill them quickly, plus the possibility of high-level greens. There's also a rare in the cathedral for a guaranteed green.
• Silithus camps
  • Not very profitable, but you can grind Cenarion Circle rep at the same time, and mobs die fast with a group. You often get a green or blue item to sell from summoning the elementals, and you can even sell your extra Twilight Cultist gear to the Marketer when you're done.
• Darkwhisper Gorge in Winterspring
  • Normally off-limits to most due to the elite demons populating this area, this can be a good place to find some Rich Thorium Veins for Arcane Crystals.

Your Companions will generally help you fight without needing any input from you, but these .z commands can help you control them to do what you want. They are especially helpful when facing dangerous enemies in dungeons, but are also useful for everyday questing. With .z commands, you can tell your Companions what to attack, how to position themselves, what AI strategy they should take, what they should try to CC or focus fire, and much more.

Commands are typed into the chat. Any command directed at the Companions must contain the prefix .z followed by the desired command. By typing .z in chat you will be given a list of all of the available commands.

Companions Control Panel addon

The simplest way to control the Companions is with a custom addon created especially for this server called the Companions Control Panel. This addon can replicate the function of all the commands listed on this page without needing to type in chat or remember their syntax. Though it can be helpful to make a few macros so you can keybind the most common commands, there are a lot of other lesser-used commands that the addon is more convenient for.

You can also assign a keybind for the Addon to quickly open or close the interface. To do so, open the Key Bindings interface in the ingame menu and scroll down to the entry marked "Companions Control Panel."

Understanding Commands

The following information will help you understand some important details of using these commands. This might be a little too much information when you're just learning, so feel free to skip ahead to the List of Commands.

Targeting

.z commands can have a variety of effects. Some will affect all your Companions at once. Others will only affect the Companion you are targeting. And some of them even feature dynamic targeting: if you're targeting a Companion, it will affect only that Companion; but if you aren't targeting a Companion, it will affect all your Companions at once.

You can tell how many Companions a .z command will affect by looking at the graphic on the right side of every command in this list. If "One" or "All" are highlighted in green, the command will only ever affect one or all Companions respectively. But if both "One" and "All" are highlighted in blue, the command will affect your Companions dynamically based on what you have targeted.

If a command with dynamic targeting also allows optional arguments to select who the command will affect (like only a certain role or class), dynamically targeting a Companion to only affect that Companion will take priority over any argument.

Syntax

Some commands have additional arguments, which can be either mandatory or optional.

• Arguments in red are mandatory. You need to include this argument for the command to do anything.
• Arguments in green are optional. The command will do something even if only some or none of these arguments are included.

If you want to use multiple arguments with a command, such as with .z pause or .z add, they must be listed in the order specified here, from left to right. If you use the CCP addon, you don't need to remember the order as it will do it for you automatically. This is mainly a consideration when writing macros.

List of Commands

Combat

.z start

Orders your Companions to attack your target.

Even without using this command, the companions will automatically assist you when you get into a fight, or even just right-click an enemy regardless of your range from them. The difference with using this command is that it immediately reactivates them out of any stay, stop, or pause commands you had placed on them, and forces them to swap to your target.

.z stop

Orders your Companions to stop attacking, and sets them in passive mode.

While in passive mode, Companions will still help out with instant-cast heals and dispels. A good time to use this command is when running through mobs you don't wish to fight, to prevent companions from automatically fighting back when they get attacked.

.z pause [duration] [role/class] (not)

Pauses your Companion.

When a Companion is paused, they won't do anything at all, and will remain completely frozen for the duration, or until you .z unpause or .z start them.

Optional arguments include:

The CCP addon. The top will select all healers. The bottom will select everyone except tanks.

1. The duration of the pause in seconds (if omitted, the default is 300 seconds, or 5 minutes)
2. The role or class of the Companion you want to pause. Valid roles include tank, healer, dps, mdps (melee dps), or rdps (ranged dps)
3. not, to pause all Companions to come to you EXCEPT for Companions in the role or class specified in the prior argument

This command, and all others on this page with the blue "dynamic" graphic in the upper right, has dynamic targeting based upon your current target: If you have one of your Companions targeted, only that Companion will be paused. Otherwise, all Companions will be paused. As mentioned in the Targeting section, dynamically targeting a single Companion will be prioritized over any role/class selection arguments.

When using the addon, not is represented by a checkbox next to the role/class selector. When the box is unchecked, that means not is in effect.

.z unpause [role/class] (not)

Unpauses your Companion.

Optional arguments include the role or class selections as well as not to exclude those selections, and work the same way as the ones in .z pause.

.z pull [duration]

Orders Tank Companions to attack, and pauses DPS Companions for a few seconds.

A handy combination of a .z start on your tank and a short .z pause on your DPS. Healers will be unaffected and still continue to heal. Very useful if your Tank Companion is struggling with holding aggro, so they can have a few seconds to gather the mobs up and apply some threat.

Just like with .z pause, you can prematurely end the pause and instruct DPS to immediately attack with .z unpause or .z start.

Optional arguments include the pause's duration (if omitted, the default duration is 10 seconds).

.z aoe

Orders your Companions to use AoE spells on the selected target.

Even without using the command, companions will evaluate on their own if it's a good situation for AoE, and will usually AoE efficiently, but this can be useful for forcing them to AoE. Some situations you might want to use it is if you want every mob to die at the same time, or if you want to force healers to use their mana on AoEing for extra dps (like making a resto druid use Hurricane).

Keep in mind this command is a holdover from the old - and much less intelligent - original playerbots, and so it can be a bit less useful than desired. It works by telling your companions to use any enemy-affecting AoE spells they have, including non-damaging AoE spells such as Psychic Scream, so be wary of using it in crowded areas if you have a priest/warrior/warlock in your group.

Movement

.z come [role/class] (not)

Orders your Companions to come to your location.

The first time you use this command while your Companions are spread out, your Companions will attempt to return to their formation. If you use it again while they are already in formation, they will attempt to stack on top of you.

Optional arguments work the same way as the ones in .z pause, and include the role or class selections as well as not to exclude those selections.

.z stay [role/class] (not)

Orders your Companions to hold their current position.

Optional arguments include the same ones as in .z come, and work the same way.

.z comestay [role/class] (not)

Orders your Companions to come to your location and stay there.

A combination of .z come and .z stay. This command is perhaps the most useful one of all, and you should use it often to safely make your way through crowded dungeons. You can use it well in many different situations such as corner pulling, getting the Companions past mobs they might otherwise aggro, or just generally making sure they're not sitting where they're not supposed to.

In the heat of combat, one major advantage of using this over .z come is that .z come will only give a momentary instruction to come to your location, but nothing will stop them from immediately running back to the enemy they were just fighting. On the other hand, .z comestay will force them to come all the way to your location, even if they need to stop fighting for a few seconds. Healers may still prioritize healing injured players/companions, but you can spam this command a few times to force them to come to you instead of healing.

Optional arguments include the same ones as in .z come, and work the same way.

.z move [role/class] (not)

Allows your Companions to move again.

If you have made your Companions stay then you have 2 options to get them moving again, either with .z come or this command. Practically, it usually doesn't matter which you use, because companions will always attempt to follow you, but there are some minor differences - if your companions were on their way somewhere, such as to attack an enemy, before you made them stay, then .z move will allow them to continue directly there instead of trying to return to you first. As well, .z come will allow them to phase through the air/environment to reach you (sometimes necessary, since they can't jump over gaps), while .z move will enforce their normal pathing.

Optional arguments include the same ones as in .z come, and work the same way.

.z follow

Orders your Companions to follow the targeted player or Companion.

Your companions will now follow your target, and will interpret any .z come or .z comestay commands you use to approach the target instead of you. You still retain all direct control over your Companions with all .z commands and whispers. This command will only work if everyone involved is out of combat and within 30 yards of each other.

This .z command only works on all Companions at once. If you want to specify a single Companion to follow someone, see the set follow whisper command.

.z unfollow

Orders your Companions to follow you again.

Behavior

.z set [role]

Switches your Companion's role.

This is useful for changing the rotation and strategy of Companions with multiple specs. For example, you can change a tank bear druid into a melee cat dps, or a dps shadow priest into a healer. Keep in mind the only thing that changes is their AI strategy, not their gear or talents.

Valid roles include tank, healer, dps, mdps (melee dps), and rdps (ranged dps).

.z focusmark [raidmark]

Assigns a raid mark for your Companions to focus their damage on.

By default, companions will focus their damage on mobs marked with the skull raidmark. This command allows you to change it to another mark.

This also works for healer companions. If you assign a healer companion a focus mark, then put that mark onto a friendly group member, they will focus on healing that character. This usually isn't necessary, but it's an option.

Be aware that this will make your companions to focus entirely on the target who has the mark, and to ignore all other targets.

You can assign multiple focus marks and they will respect them in the order in which you assigned them.

To clear the assigned focus marks you can use (.z clear focusmark)

► Examples:

.z focusmark cross (while targeting a Companion)	The targeted Companion will focus their damage on the enemy marked with a cross .
.z focusmark circle (while not targeting a Companion)	All Companions will focus their damage on the enemy marked with a circle .

.z ccmark [raidmark]

Assigns a raid mark for your Companions to attempt to crowd control.

By default, companions will attempt to use crowd control abilities on any valid mob marked with the moon raidmark. If that target is being attacked or has dots applied then it is not considered valid for CC.

All companions with assigned CC marks will avoid attacking mobs who are raid marked as such, for the reason of preventing accidentally breaking CC or invalidating the targets for future CC.

You can assign multiple CC marks and they will respect them in the order in which you assigned them.

► Examples:

.z ccmark square (while targeting a Companion)	The targeted Companion will now attempt to CC square in addition to the default of moon .
.z ccmark triangle (while targeting the same Companion from the previous example)	The targeted Companion will now attempt to CC triangle , square , and moon .

.z clear [focusmark/ccmark] [role/class]

Removes raidmark assignments from your Companions.

Optional arguments include focusmark, ccmark, class or role to clear that type of mark. If these arguments are omitted, both types of marks will be cleared for all Companions.

.z toggle aoe

Toggles whether your Companions are allowed to use their AOE abilities.

Companions will already automatically avoid using AoE abilities in most situations you wouldn't want to use them (like around CCed enemies), but this allows you to force them to never use them. An example of a situation you might want to use this command is when you want to prevent AOE abilities that don't break CC.

Adding and Removing Companions

.z add [class] [role] [spec] [race] [gender]

Adds a Companion of the specified class to your party.

Companions can only be hired at a <Companions> representative npc, found standing next to every innkeeper in the game, as well as all the starting areas. Speaking to the npc will allow you to hire a Companion through dialogue options. However, you can also use this command while standing near the npc to hire without having to go through their dialogue - for example, if you have a preferred group you always like to run with, you could make a macro with .z add to quickly hire them. You will automatically be charged the hiring fee either way.

The only mandatory argument here is class. The other arguments can be specified or can be left blank, in which case you will get something randomized for that argument.

Legal values for Class are: (warrior | paladin | hunter | rogue | priest | mage | warlock | druid | shaman)
Legal values for Role are: (tank, mdps, rdps, healer)
Legal values for Spec (Paladin) are: (might, magic)
Legal values for Spec (Mage) are: (frost, fire, arcane)
Legal values for Race are: (human, dwarf, nightelf, gnome, undead, orc, troll, tauren)
Legal values for Gender are: (male | female)

.z add [role]

Adds a Companion of the specified role to your party.

If you enjoy a bit more randomness, you can specify only the companion's role, which will give you a Companion of the specified role but everything else is Random. This is a fun way to get used to the Companion AI of the different classes and explore their synergies. The <Companions> representatives also offer this option through their dialogue options.

Valid roles are tank, healer, dps, meleedps, and rangedps.

.z remove

Removes your Companion from the party.

There are three methods of removing Companions from the party:

1. This command
2. Kicking them out of the party
3. Leaving the party yourself

You will usually use one of the latter two options, but this command will allow you to remove one of your companions even if you are not the group's leader. For this reason, this command is mainly used if you're in a group with other real players but are not the group's leader.

Removed companions will immediately cease to exist.

.z transfer [playername]

Allows you to transfer your companions to another player.

Owner - represents the person who has hired the Companion. This is the person who will get reimbursed should the server restart. They are also the only ones who can transfer and untransfer their own Companions. The Owner cannot be changed.
Master - represents the person who has full control over the Companion. At hiring, the Owner and the Master are the same person. The transfer command allows you to transfer the Master status to a different player, permanently.
Partner - represents the person whom the Companion was set to follow, temporarily. A Partner is someone who is granted a great deal of temporary control over the Companion but not as powerful as a Master would be. For example, a Partner could not use the .z remove command on a Companion who is following them. And, a Partner can only be set and exist while in the same group as the Master.

The most powerful and important role is the Master, because the entire Companion logic is based on it. For example, if a Partner were to go offline, then the Companion would go back to working for the Master. If an Owner were to go offline and the Master was a different player, then nothing would happen. But, if the Master were to go offline, then the Companion would try to despawn and stop functioning altogether.

Transfer specifications:

1. A Companion can only be transferred once.
2. To transfer, nobody can be in combat, either the Owner, the new Master or the Companion. And the new Master must be within 30 yards range.
3. The transfer duration is unlimited.
4. The .z untransfer range is unlimited.
5. For now, the Companion can be transferred to a player of any level.

Miscellaneous

.z use

Orders Companions to use an object in the world.

Objects are things in the world that give you the little gear cursor when you mouse over them. This will tell your companions to use the object.

Perhaps the most common use for this command is to make your Rogue companions open locked doors or chests for you. Other common uses include clicking a warlock summoning portal, making your Companions click the altar in Uldaman or Upper Blackrock Spire to progress with the dungeon, or making your Companions use the buffing orb in Blackfathom Deeps. The possibilities are endless.

.z who

This will provide you with information about the Companions in your group.

.z toggle [helm/cloak]

Toggles visual display of your Companion's helm or cloak.

This command is just for fun. Tired of seeing that goofy turban on your warlock Companion? Use this command to make them hide it!

Optional arguments include helm or cloak. If these arguments are omitted, both helm and cloak will be toggled.

In addition to .z commands, whispers are another way you can command your Companions. They provide a more detailed way to customize and learn information about an individual Companion. Typically, whispers aren't necessary for everyday gameplay, but they can help with more complex content.

To use a whisper command, whisper it to your Companion along with any desired arguments. To start, you can whisper a Companion Hello to see a list of all their whisper commands. This, and all other whisper commands, must be case sensitive. You can also whisper them any of the following commands without arguments to get a small explanation of how to use the command.

All whispers follow the same syntax rules as mentioned in the Syntax section of the .z commands page.

Spells

cast [spell name, link, or ID]

Orders your Companion to immediately cast a spell on your current target.

A "spell" is defined as any kind of ability a class gets, not just magic spells from caster classes.

You can use either the spell's name (case sensitive), a link to the spell (shift-clicked from the list spells whisper command, or Wowhead's "ingame link" feature), or the spell's internal ID.

Your Companion will cast the spell on your current target. You should make sure to target an appropriate target - a friendly for beneficial spells, or a hostile for damaging spells - otherwise, your Companion will decline to cast it.

Some common uses for this command (which can be macroed) include:

• Ordering your tank Companion to use their ranged pulling ability, like a druid's Faerie Fire (Feral) or a warrior's Shoot Bow.
• Ordering a paladin Companion to cast a different aura than the one they cast by default - for example, if you'd prefer your holy paladin to maintain Devotion Aura instead of their default Concentration Aura.
• Ordering a warlock Companion to cast Ritual of Summoning to summon a friend (though your other Companions can't help you click the portal - you'll need other players for that).

deny (add/remove/list) [spell name, link, or ID]

Prohibits your Companion from automatically using a spell.

deny add [spell] will blacklist the specified spell from your Companion's regular AI rotation. They can still cast the spell if you force them to with the cast whisper or the .z aoe command (if applicable).

deny remove [spell] will remove the specified spell from the blacklist.

deny list will list all spells you have blacklisted.

See also the .z toggle aoe command to quickly deny or allow all AOE spells at once.

dispel [buff name, link, or ID]

Removes the specified buff affecting your Companion.

This command will essentially tell your Companion to 'click off' the buff. For that reason, it can only be used with beneficial buffs, not debuffs. The list auras whisper command can help you quickly find the names of the buffs affecting your Companion.

Formation

set formation distance [yards]

Sets the distance in yards your Companion will follow you at.

By default, Companions will follow you at a range of about 4.5 yards. This allows you to change that range. Valid values are between 0 and 30 yards.

set formation angle [radians]

Sets the angle in radians your Companion will follow you at.

By default, Companions will attempt to remain in a formation based on their role. Tanks will walk ahead of you, healers will stay behind you, and DPS will remain at your sides. This command allows you to change that angle.

You might be asking "What are radians?" To put it simply, radians are a way to measure angles in a circle. But you don't have to do any complicated math to use this command. Just look at this chart. You don't have to stick to just those numbers either. Any value between 0 and 6.28 is valid for this command.

Valid values are: front, back, left, right, upperright, upperleft, bottomright, bottomleft

set formation default

Returns all formation options to their default settings.

List

list stats

Reports on your Companion's stats.

By using this command, you can see a realtime representation of all your Companion's stats. All auras and stances currently on your Companion are taken into account.

list status

Reports on the status of your Companion's AI.

If your Companion seems to not be responding, you can use this command as a debug tool to see what is wrong with them. They will report on 6 things:

• Teleporting: Whether they are attempting to teleport to you.
• Paused: Whether they are affected by a .z pause command.
• Staying: Whether they are affected by a .z stay command.
• Passive: Whether they are affected by a .z stop command.
• Combat: Whether they are in combat.
• Victim: Whether they have something set as a "Victim" (i.e. they are attempting to attack it).

See the cancel whisper if this command doesn't help you figure out why a Companion seems to be stuck. That will usually fix it.

list auras

Reports on all buffs and debuffs affecting your Companion.

This can be useful to use with the dispel whisper.

list spells

Reports on all spells your Companion has learned.

Using this command will get you a list of linkable spells you can use with the cast whisper. It will include any spells they gained from their talents as well.

list talents

Reports on all talents your Companion has learned.

You can see a list of all Companion talent specs on the Talents page.

list gear

Reports on the durability of your companion's gear.

Companions take durability damage in combat and when they die. This command shows the durability of their gear. Companions will repair their gear, at no cost to you, when you visit a vendor that has the option to repair equipment.

Set

set debug (on/off)

Reports whenever your Companion uses a spell.

This can be helpful to find out exactly what your Companions are doing. Every time they use a spell, they will whisper you about it.

set follow (on/off) [name]

Orders your Companion to follow the listed player or Companion.

This is a useful alternative to .z follow when you only want one of your Companions, rather than all of them, to follow someone other than you. For example, if you're a melee class, you can tell your healer Companion to follow one of your ranged dps Companions instead of you, so that the healer won't stand in cleave range anymore.

Like with .z follow, this command can only be used while everyone involved is out of combat and within a 30 yard range.

set pet (on/off)

Orders a hunter or warlock Companion to dismiss or summon their pet.

There are many situations when you might not want a hunter or warlock to have their pet out. Trying to use the cast whisper to order them to cast Dismiss Pet won't work, but this command will.

set blessing [blessing name, link, or ID]/(cancel)

Orders a paladin Companion to only cast a certain blessing.

By default, paladin Companions will attempt to intelligently cast the most helpful blessing based on their role, the target's class/role, and which blessings they already have. However, there are still some times you might want your paladin to give you a specific blessing instead. Using this whisper will disable most of the AI associated with blessings, and will only allow them to cast the blessing you specify. They still won't cast obviously pointless or counter-productive blessings, like Wisdom on classes that don't use mana, or Salvation on tanks, but if you really want that for some reason, you can use the cast whisper. After setting a blessing, you can revert a paladin Companion back to their default blessing AI by using set blessing cancel.

The most relevant use of this whisper is when in a party with both a paladin and shaman Companion - not an impossible situation, considering this server is cross-faction. Blessings and totems with similar effects do not stack in vanilla, and shaman Companions won't bother to drop a totem that they know doesn't stack with a blessing they can see on a party member. The most important example of this is Windfury Totem & Blessing of Might or Blessing of Kings. If you're grouped with both a paladin and shaman Companion, and the warriors and rogues want Windfury Totem, the shaman won't bother to drop it as long as he can detect Blessing of Might or Blessing of Kings on someone. The easiest way to do that is to order your paladin Companion to cast some other blessing with this whisper, like Salvation. There are several other similar blessing/totem combinations that don't stack, but that you can usually leave up to the Companions to sort out, like Blessing of Wisdom & Mana Spring Totem, or Blessing of Sanctuary & Stoneskin Totem.

set totem [totem name, link, or ID]/(cancel)

Orders a shaman Companion to only cast a certain totem.

As with paladins, shamans will generally automatically use the most effective totems for your group makeup, but this whisper allows you to force them to always drop a specific totem. This whisper works very similarly to set blessing but for shamans instead of paladins. For the rationale and common uses, please read that section.

Since shamans have four possible totems, you can set up to four different totem assignments - one for each element.

set drink [value]

Set the % of mana that your Companion will stop to drink.

By default, Companions will drink to regen mana whenever they are below 100% mana. This command allows you to change that threshold.

set eat [value]

Set the % of health that your Companion will stop to eat.

By default, Companions will eat to regen health whenever they are below 100% health. This command allows you to change that threshold.

set heal [value]

Set the % of health that your healer Companions will attempt to heal up to.

By default, healer Companions will seek to ensure that the entire party is at 100% health. This command allows you to change that threshold.

This command ONLY has an effect if the Companion you're whispering is currently assigned the healer role, either from when they were hired or when assigned with .z set. To change the threshold at which your other Companions with heal spells will use them, see the next command, set offheal.

set offheal [value]

Set the % of health that non-Healer Companions will attempt to heal up to.

By default, your hybrid Companions in non-Healer roles (e.g. ret paladins, balance druids, etc) will attempt to help out with healing if someone is below 50% health. This command allows you to change that threshold.

Like with the previous command, this only has an effect if the Companion you're whispering is NOT currently assigned the Healer role.

set default

Returns all set options to their default settings.

Miscellaneous

cancel

Orders your Companion to stop whatever they're doing and come to you.

This will release your Companion from any commands you've given them or AI routines they are attempting to follow, and force them to immediately come to you. It can be useful to "reset" a Companion if they get bugged out.

The best commands to macro and keybind somewhere accessible are:

Most of the others are safe to leave to the CCP addon, but if you want to macro them all, go for it! In particular, using the role arguments with the movement commands like .z comestay can be pretty helpful for positioning your party in dungeons.

Give your Companions orders even if you are dead

You might have noticed that you can't use .z commands while you are dead. That's because the commands are a custom module that isn't native to the client. The default channel is /say, so the client thinks you are just trying to talk in /say, which you cannot do while dead.

There is an easy way around this. Simply prefix your macros with /p. This puts you into the party-chat channel, which you can communicate in whether you are dead or not.

For example:

This will use .z follow if your target is friendly; otherwise, it will use .z unfollow.

SuperMacros

How to use supermacros:

1. Download SuperMacro. You can get it from Discord in the #downloads section.

2. Unzip it in your Inferface/Addon folder.

3. Open the SuperMacro folder.

4. Open the SM_Extend.lua file with a text editor. I recommend Notepad++

5. Copy the macro code inside the SM_Extend.lua file, at the end of the file.

6. Create a macro in game using the Supermacro addon:

6a. In game press Esc then hit the red Supermacro button.

6b. At the top of the window, press either New account macro or New character macro.

6c. Type in a desired name for your macro and select an icon for it.

6d. In the bottom left panel insert the macro usage command to call the macro, as detailed in the instructions, such as:

Invite Companions

This allows you to hire companions from your entire account. It's particularly useful when you want to hire an entire raid with the press of a button, and especially during the 1 hour period after a server restart when you can hire from anywhere in the world. It doesn't have the same restriction as using the CCP addon because it doesn't look at the licenses in your bag but rather it allows you to use any licenses you have unlocked.

Note: While leveling, Companions may not learn the talents in the order you might expect. They focus one talent pane at a time, and will learn the talents in that pane row by row from top to bottom, left to right. Server Patch

This patch is mandatory for playing on the server.

Step-by-step guide on how to install/update it.

1) Close all your opened clients.
2) If you already have a patch-3.mpq in your client's Data folder, then delete it.
3) Download the latest patch-3.mpq from below.
4) Copy-paste the newly downloaded patch-3.mpq to your client's Data folder, where the other patch.mpq and patch-2.mpq are (those belong to the game by default).
5) Make sure that the file is named exactly patch-3.mpq without any extra characters such as
patch-3(2).mpq or

The Companions Control Panel addon replicates all the functions of the .z commands that you would normally have to type into chat (or macro). While most people will create and keybind macros for the most commonly used commands like .z start or .z stop, the CCP addon is very useful for the less common, but still important, commands like .z use. For more information about all the functions of the CCP addon, please visit the .z Commands page.

Aux

To use it, just click the "Post" tab at the bottom, select the item you want to list, and click the "Post" button. The duration must be 24 hours.

You might notice when listing several items in a row that the "unit starting/buyout price" field doesn't seem to change. This is purely a visual bug. Your items will be listed for the correct price of 2x its vendor value. Just click "Post."

Legion Era Graphics

If you would like to upgrade the graphics to legion era simply download the patches and apply them to your wow /Data folder. Although this greatly enhances the fidelity of the graphics, there are some quirks and not everything works 100%. You will notice a few, very few, graphical anomalies. The performance impact is small, but if you have a very low end gpu you may need the extra performance benefits of the tweaks on the github page.

The changes only apply to your client and no one else can see them, unless they also have the same patches installed.

Darker Nights

This patch does one simple thing, it makes the night much darker. If you like a bit more ambiance in your play sessions or want it for RP or other reasons this patch will darken your world at nighttime only. Like the legion patch above the change is purely aesthetic and changes nothing else.

Once you hit level 60, you will be able to upgrade your companions along two different paths, focused on either 40-man raid progression or dungeon/20-man progression. Raid companions are specialized for raid performance, while dungeon companions are designed to be good in dungeons. The upgrade process is mostly soloable for dungeons, but will require a raid group for raids. For more information, see the features page (LINK GOES HERE). You can pursue both paths, or just one.

This system is also intertwined with Nyctermoon's custom raid attunements. This server has a system where you have to beat each raid in order to enter the next one. For example you must clear Molten Core before being able to enter Blackwing Lair. Upgrading your companions requires completion of two separate quests for each tier:

1. The first is the recognition quest. This is a simple quest that requires defeating a boss. Completing a recognition quest may allow you to enter the next raid, and rewards you an item called a "Companion Recognition" that are required for the second quest. These quests are available from the <Companions> representative in any major city.
2. The second is the license quest This is a more involved quest that requires gathering a variety of items, including the "Companion Recognition" from the first quest. Completing the license quest rewards you with a "Companion License" that allows you to hire upgraded companions from any representative as long as you carry it in your bags. These quests are hidden throughout the world, but this guide will show you where to find them.

Aside from the Companions, which you can read about on the .z Commands and Whispers pages, Microbot has some other custom content and settings you might not be used to on other vanilla servers.

Companion Upgrades and Raid Progression

After reaching level 60, you can upgrade your companions along two different paths. If you acquire the Companions Recognition by completing quests from your major City's <Companions> NPC and gather additional materials and tokens as well as gold, certain NPCs will reward you with licenses. There are additional quest requirements to access raids on this server. Read below for more information on accessing each additional raid.

Dungeon Companions are well suited to dungeons, while Raid Companions are specialized for raids. Dungeon and Raid Companions will have different talent specs and come with different gear. You can see the how the talent spec differs for Dungeon and Raid Companions on the Talents page.

You can freely choose to pursue both paths at the same time if you wish. There are 2 main steps to each tier of companions. Firstly, you will accept a quest from the <Companions> NPC in a major city. These quests will require you to kill a boss at the end of a dungeon or raid. For dungeon license quests you will be rewarded with a "Companions Recognition" item. The next step will be a quest that requires you to provide a recognition, a handful of tokens of mastery, an amount of gold and various crafted items (for Dungeon licenses) or a Raid essence created from 6 tokens dropped by the final boss of that raid. The quest will reward you with the Companion License for that tier. This will allow you to hire that rank of companion from any <Companion> NPC.

Attunements

On Microbot, all vanilla raids are unlocked and available, but you will need to progress through each of them in order to unlock the next one. You can obtain the quests for these attunements from a <Companions> NPC in any major city.

Molten Core: Complete the quest "The Seat of Power" (Slay Emperor Dagran Thaurissan)
*Also requires the standard MC attunement.

Blackwing Lair: Complete the quest "Fire and Brimstone" (Slay Ragnaros)
*Also requires the standard BWL attunement.

Companion Limit

Each character you have can hire a maximum of 4 bots which all share lockouts and level. You can hire companions from an alt through the hiring NPCs found in every inn. Example: Character A is level 60 and has the T2R License. Character B is level 48. On your account you can hire a total of 4 T2R level 60 bots and 4 level 48 bots. Solo raiding is generally discouraged for performance reasons but can still be done by having several level 60 characters. There are many benefits to grouping up for all activities, so don't feel you need to aim for solo raiding.

The cost of hiring a companion goes up depending their tier. You can see an overview of the cost to hire subsequent Companions at each raid and dungeon tier by viewing the table below. There are various discounts to hiring costs available, such as:

• a 10% discount for hiring companions of each race by reaching exalted status with the corresponding race faction
• reaching Rank 14 in PVP
• Completing the Paragon Maestro quest chain
• Leveling additional characters to 60 on your account

Shirt of New Beginnings

Field Repair Bot 74B & Shirt of the Savant

To speed up leveling professions, a shirt can be obtained by completing a series of quests. First, complete the questline "Lead by Example", which starts at innkeepers in capital cities. Then, venture into Blackrock Depths where you will find Wubba Duckie. In exchange for the following items he will give you a repair bot with three charges:

Once you have obtained your repair bot, he will also give you a quest to see Grimando Goldenlock in Booty Bay. Grimando hands you a quest to show the knowledge of professions you've already obtained. To get the Savant shirt from him you must hand over:

1 Dirge's Kickin' Chimaerok Chops
1 Arcane Bomb
1 Mooncloth Bag (note: on Microbot, this bag has two more slots and requires more materials to craft

Shirt of the Silvertongue

Marketer

To help you earn all this gold, we have a Marketer bot that buys items you place on the auction house for double the amount you would get for selling to a vendor. It will buy almost any item, except for greys, or goods easily found on vendors like food/drink.

The Marketer will also post trade goods for you to buy on the auction house, though the price is not cheap, so it's more of a last resort for especially hard-to-find items.

There is an addon made specially for this server that will automatically fill in the buyout price in the AH for you with the proper 2x vendor price, so you don't need to spend time calculating it. Please see the Addons page for more information on it.

Transmog

You can visually transform your equipment to look like anything you want. To transform your equipment, speak to the <Companions> representative; located around where the Mage trainers are in Stormwind and Orgrimmar. The item you want the appearance of must be in either your bags or your bank. The item must be the same class, e.g., leather can only have leather item appearances, one handed swords can only have one handed sword appearances, etc. To transform an item, it costs the vendor price of the item you want the appearance of.

One note about this feature - if you are wearing gear with a set bonus, and transmog it into something else, the tooltip will appear to show the set bonus greyed out, as if you don't have the set bonus anymore. This is not the case. It is just a visual bug. You will still have the set bonus.

No PVP Decay

PVP ranks will not decay, so you can pursue ranks at your own pace.

Battleground Skirmishers

Though not as advanced as the Companions' AI, bots known as Skirmishers will populate battlegrounds, and are scripted to fight and pursue objectives reasonably well. If a real player joins the battleground, they will automatically replace one of the Skirmishers. You can't command the Skirmishers like you can with your Companions, but you can bring your regularly hired team of Companions into the battleground and control them like normal. Queue times are typically under a minute for both factions.

Cross-Faction

Alliance and Horde characters can group up together for PVE. They also share the same Auction House, and there is no longer a separate neutral goblin AH.

However, Alliance and Horde will still fight each other in battlegrounds, and opposing faction NPCs are still hostile to you.

As well, you can only hire Companions from your own faction from most Companion NPCs. It's possible to have paladin and shaman Companions in the same group for PVE, but Paladins can only be hired from Alliance characters and Shamans from Horde characters.

No Debuff Limit

In the original 1.12, enemies could only have 16 debuffs at a time. This prevented many classes from being able to use their full toolkit in raids. On this server, the debuff limit is removed. Raid boss HP is increased slightly to account for the increase in raid DPS from this change.

No Profession Limit

You can learn all 9 primary professions on the same character. Profession rates are 1x; leveling can be sped up by equipping a Savant shirt (see above).

However, you can still only choose one specialization for blacksmithing, leatherworking, and engineering.

Instant Mail

Mail is instantly sent between any two characters on the server, unlike stock vanilla's 1 hour timer.

Full Rewards from Low-Level Quests

You will receive full XP and reputation rewards from completing quests even if they are grey to you. This ensures you aren't wasting your time if you want to finish a zone after outleveling it. It's also a good way to get some easy faction reputation instead of relying on cloth turn-ins.

Automatic Fishing

When fishing, your character will automatically catch the fish without needing to click the bobber and re-cast the fishing pole into the water. This allows you to effectively fish while AFK - although it doesn't disable the auto AFK logout timer.

Dungeon and raid difficulty modifier

Dungeons and raids difficulty can be change to heroic which will improve loot, experience, money and reputation.

The difficulty changes are as follow with some adjustment depending on the dungeon/raid:
1.5x hp/damage/spellpower

The commands are account-bound. Make sure to set it back to normal when logging-in:

.settings difficulty heroic (+100% loot/xp/etc)

Note: The % loot affects both the number of drop rolls, as well as the drop chance of a specific item. For example, if a boss has 5 drops on his table, and normally drops 1 item, clearing the boss on heroic will award 2 items instead. You cannot recieve the same item twice. Also, if a specific drop has a 10% chance to drop, it would be a 20% chance on heroic.

Player Modifiers

In addition to the normal/heroic difficulty options increasing xp and loot, playing with other players (non-companion) will also increase the rates. You gain an additional 20% per player you have in your group. This is only for unique players, and does not work with multiboxing. The max multiplier you can obtain is 300%. (100% base + 100% heroic + 100% 5 players) Having more players than 5, i.e. in a raid, will not increase the multiplier any higher.

There is also a unique Lucky Charm item, which provides an unspecified % buff to drop chance for 2 hours.

Legacy

Legacy is an account wide progression system that ties into xp gain, exploration (and therefore starting level), reputation, professions and eternal items. Legacy bonuses are active by default. If you wish to play with blizzlike rates, you can disable it account wide with .legacy off. You can turn off individual bonuses to suit your needs.

.legacy settings xp on/off
For each level 60 character you have, you gain a 20% increasing XP buff that goes up to 100% at your 5th character. This bonus is additive with the xp shirt, while the group bonus is multiplicative.
Example: (100% (normal xp) + 100% (shirt xp) + 100% (legacy xp)) x2 (group bonus) = 6x XP

.legacy settings rep on/off
For each level 60 character you have, you gain a 20% increasing Rep buff that goes up to 100% at your 5th character. This bonus is additive with the Rep shirt.

.legacy settings craftinggain on/off
For each character with 12 maxed out professions you gain +1 skill gain, up to +5. I have removed the server’s bonuses and now the rates are blizzlike 1x. Those who wish to play blizzlike they can and those who wish to have bonuses they have them. The total skill gain you can reach is: 1 (server) + 4 (shirt) + 5 (legacy) = 10.

For each character with 12 maxed out professions you gain +1% skill up success rate for green and yellow crafts up to +10%, bringing it to a total of 35% for greens and 85% for yellows. I have removed the server’s bonuses and they are now blizzlike.

When you create a new character, it will learn all the flight points that all your other characters of the same faction know, cumulative. So if one of your characters knows half the world and another knows the other half, your newly created character will know all the flight points in the world.

.legacy settings map on/off
The same as with the flight points except for map exploration. Your newly created characters will have all the map areas explored that your other characters have cumulative.

This only works if the map setting above is also turned on. Each explored area gives you some amount of XP. When you create a new character, it will be granted upfront the XP for each explored area that it inherits from your other characters. You can track the amount of XP your newly created character will gain by typing .legacy So the more you explore, the more XP you will gain. With a fully explored world your character will gain enough XP to start from level 10.

Eternal Consumables

Eternal Consumables are alternate versions of existing consumables that are reusable indefinitely. The recipes for Eternal Consumables are generally learned from creating the regular version. The chance to discover an eternal recipe by default is 0%. Per character on your account with all professions maxed you get +0.5% chance (half of your legacy crafting chance). You can get a 10 minute +1% buff from a Lucky Charm that drops at the end of Dire Maul West and in player-only dungeons. There is also a reusable Cooking Grill item which gives an additional 1% chance to learn eternal cooking recipes when used (quest details below).

After learning a recipe for an eternal item you still need to craft it. Eternal recipes are account-wide like all recipes.

Eternal Wisdom is an item that teaches you a random eternal recipe you don't already know. Wisdoms are awarded monthly to those with the fastest player-only times. See the player-only leaderboards here.

A variety of cooking recipes have had their stats changed for the eternal version. Refer to the table below for changes.

Quest Line: Lead by Example

All the Lead by Example quests are given by Companion NPC located in main cities innkeeper.
The Cooking Grill is given by Wubba Duckie.

Raids typically have one player controlling up to four Companions, which could be extra challenging to manage for bosses with high-responsibility mechanics like Baron Geddon in Molten Core. However, Companions have special logic for some bosses to be able to handle their mechanics automatically, so that players do not have to worry about manually moving them around or using crucial abilities. To complete these bosses, it's important to understand what the Companions will attempt to do. This page will list those situations when Companions will act on their own, as well as other proven strategies for defeating difficult encounters with the Companions.

This does not attempt to be a full guide to boss mechanics. Look up a guide on wowhead or something if you need help understanding a boss's basic mechanics. This supplements those guides with information specific to the Companions.

Molten Core

Magmadar

Hunter Companions will automatically use Tranquilizing Shot when Magmadar frenzies.

Baron Geddon

Companions who get Living Bomb will automatically run to the northwest mouth of the cave you find Geddon patrolling in - right under the low ceiling. Therefore, you should keep the raid away from this position.

This automatic instruction to run to the cave mouth will override any command (like stay or start) you've previously given to the Companion. However, players can likewise override the instruction by giving their Companion a command after the automatic instruction has been given. The automatic instruction basically works just like a command you give them yourself, so giving them another command afterwards will naturally make them follow that instead. Therefore, it's important you don't try to spam commands often during the fight to avoid accidentally overriding their Living Bomb instruction. If you need to use a command (for example, comestay to pull the melee out of the fire) press it only once when you're sure your Companion doesn't have Living Bomb.

A sample way to fight this boss would be something like this:

1. Stack the raid along the northern wall inside the cave - or somewhere you'll be far enough away from the safe spot to not take damage, but your healers will be in range to heal Companions that blow up.

2. Send in the tanks to fight Baron at his position when he paths closest to the northwest entrance of the cave.

3. When a Companion receives Living Bomb, do nothing and they will run to the safe spot by themselves.

4. When Baron starts using Inferno, use comestay once on the melee dps to pull them out of it, but be careful you don't give the command to someone with Living Bomb. If you are playing a melee class yourself and also have to run out of the Inferno, it would be prudent to run out a few seconds before the Inferno so that you don't have to spam comestay while you are running. Alternately, if you don't think you can handle this, just keep your melee dps out of the fight until the final few percent when Baron prepares to blow himself up.

Garr

Warlock Companions will automatically attempt to banish Garr's adds.

Majordomo Executus

Companions do not have any particular logic for this boss, but there are some things you can set up for them to make things go smoothly.

• Use focus marks for your tanks: Assign different focus marks to your tanks and put them on the Flamewaker Elites so that each tank will automatically pick up a different Elite. DPS companions can keep their default skull focusmark; just put skull on an enemy when you want them to switch to it.
• Use CC marks for everyone else: Assign CC marks for every Companion in your raid (yes, everyone, even if they can't CC) and put them on the Flamewaker Healers. Mage companions will sheep anything with a CC mark, and every companion will avoid damaging anything with a CC mark to avoid breaking the sheep early.
• Toggle off AOE: To further ensure sheeps don't get broken, use .z toggle aoe to prevent companions from using any AOE abilities during the fight.

Blackwing Lair

Vaelastrasz

Similar to the Baron Geddon fight, Companions will automatically run behind one of the pillars when they get Burning Adrenaline.

Because of this, it's also important to position your raid in a way that supports the Companion logic.

You gain:

• +1% XP per bonus point of spirit.
• +1% movement speed in ghost form per bonus point of spirit.
• +1% duration reduction for resurrection sickness per bonus point of spirit.
• All capped at 100%.

We gave Battle Spirit a chance with the 5% combat regen but, as you reported, the benefit from this wasn't nearly enough to make a difference and to convince you to use spirit.

I did the math, and you can check it out yourselves in my consumable spreadsheet, and it would take a minimum of 15% combat regen if not more to make a significant difference. My concern is that at that point it will cause too many issues at level 60 where the main beneficiaries from spirit, namely priests and druids, will gain too much an advantage over the other classes who do not gain any spirit from their class gear. So it's practically not possible to fix. It would take a complete game redesign.

However, you guys suggested several different non combat benefits and we settled on those ones. Even though we have already a lot of xp bonuses, I think the only benefit that would convince you to seek out spirit during leveling is more xp. Other things like combat damages or magic find would not do, for the simple reason that you can avoid combat or profesisons while leveling altogether. What you can't avoid is gaining xp, which makes spirit gain an intrinsic desirable stat.

My hope is that you'll consider your options for obtaining spirit during the leveling process, of which there are many, such as gear, consumables, enchants and buffs. I'm monitoring to see if 1% per spirit is too easy, or if this new xp bonus will make level too fast, in which case I'll need to nerf things.

• added a Lucky Charm item to Prince Tortheldrin, the last boss in Dire Maul West Mythic difficulty. This increases your chance, for a short duration, to learn an Eternal recipe by an additive 1% chance.

• dungeon companions can now use resistance gear. Overall, T1 can equip fire res gear, T2 shadow, T3 nature, T4 frost. In addition, you need to have at least 255 of that resistance in order to get your companions to equip it. This check looks at your total score, which means your increases from buffs and consumables also count. You don't need to keep the resistance gear equipped after they've equipped theirs.

A couple of years ago I made it so that pve quests always award full xp & rep. I saw that some of you like to level up exclusively by doing pvp. In fairness, I have changed the repeatable pvp quests from the battlemasters to also award full xp & rep. In addition, I’ve tripled the requirements for the pvp marks, in exchange for also receiving a token of mastery and an increase in rewards.

I've fully implemented the Barber feature for players and companions. You can now customize and save/load/delete presets for your own characters as well as for the companions.

The presets for the player are saved per character, but for the companions are saved per account, so you can access the same presets from whichever one of your other characters on your account.

The cost scales with your level starting with 1 copper at level 1, up to 10 gold at level 60. The cost is only paid once per sessions, as long as you remain logged in, and you can use it as much as you'd like during that session.

You can load saved presets for the companions from the hiring NPC when hiring a companion or for your existing companions. You can also load the presets when using the hiring commands. Loading presets in this manner will not cost you anything.

• I made improvements to the hunters' distancing when trying to move out of deadzones. They will check to see what the aggro radius of the mobs around him are and don't run into a group of mobs that he could aggro.

• As I was working on the hunter I realized that there was a problem with the Dragonslayer buff. It was actually not giving the +140 ranged AP as it was supposed to. I checked on classic and it works there. The problem was that the +140 ranged AP would be the 4th effect of this buff, and normally buffs can have a maximum of 3 effects. I don't know how they managed to workaround this issue on classic, but I couldn't just go and severely modify the core to allow for this. So instead, I added this missing +140 ranged AP to the Fergus' Ferocity buff, which will now give +200 melee AP and + 340 ranged AP. I tested all the sets from T1R to T5R and the hunters are JUST below mages and warlocks in dps.

• Additionally, I have increased the duration of Warchief's Blessing and Songflower Serenade to 2 hours to be in line with the other world buffs, because it was triggering my god damn OCD. I have updated the patch-N.mpq to reflect the changes.

This didn't work well because combat doesn't end simultaneously for all group members, which resulted in a lot of time wasted when trying to get them to stay again afterwards.

He will trade you rare consumables that are normally obtained for seasonal events that most people seem to not know about or have tried to obtain. You can still obtain said consumables the normal way from said events when those come around. He will also trade items that are meant to be used as transmog from the NPCs in Stormwind and Orgrimmar. Griznak accepts Tokens of Mastery as payment for all his wears. Currently he can be found in Booty Bay at the tailors, next to Grimando. At a later date I intend to make him roam the world like Rexxar.

• Upon reviewing my logs and asking around, it seems that you guys are happy with the changes to the world buffs and Dire Maul North. However, as expected, DMN has become very lucrative for farming tokens now. I like the action that’s going on in DMN, a dungeon that was mostly overlooked before that update, so instead of nerfing the drop rates from DMN, I have instead substantially increased the chance for tokens to drop from the other dungeons, including the abyssal lords and ZG/AQ20, to prevent DMN from becoming a chore rather than a fun choice. According to my logs, I see people running a wide variety of dungeons, so this is a preventive change before word spreads out.

• I split the trial quest from Rubix into 2 separate quests, one for Baron and one for Balnazzar.

• added a new command for T1R+ Paladin non healers. It works the same as: set gear [elemental resist]. As far as I tested they work fine together. They both work the same way, as in, when you use the command they take a snapshot of whatever gear they are replacing and when you set them back to normal they will return that gear.

• I have further improved the .z stop’s casting of defensive spells. I intend for this command to transform the companions into bodyguards who CC enemies that attack your group. If you use this command while moving through dangerous territory, I expect the companions to do everything in their power to peel off your enemies so that you can safely proceed. This has caused the drawback that there’s no command left where you can simply order your companions to just follow you without casting anything. If you have issues with this let me know and we’ll talk about other possible solutions.

• I have improved the warning messages when you reach the limit of how many companions you can hire so it displays at what level you can unlock another. To remind you, you start with 1 max companion that you can hire, then you can hire a 2nd at level 10, 3rd at 12, 4th at 14. The messages both in chat and at the hiring NPC will let you know that.

• I have improved the way in which rogue companions unlock your locked boxes. Put your locked containers in the trade window and press Trade. If the companion has enough lock picking skill, he will unlock them for you and then cancel the trade . He will let you know in the chat if he has succeeded or not. You will then be able to open the boxes from your own inventory and take the loot.

• companions will inherit their master’s guild tag name and tabard when hired. I managed to allow this to happen without actually inviting them companions into your guild so as to not mess things up. For them this is just a visual tag, not a functional one.

• I have modified the OnWhsiper command for denying spells to allow for multiple spells to be denied at the same time by enumerating them with a comma separator, like so:

• From feedback received, I have improved the notes from the companion license recognitions to mention where you are supposed to go in order to obtain your license for that tier. Such as: “You may use this document of recognition to obtain a Tier 1 Dungeon Licence. Speak with Holymana Brightshield at Uther's Tomb in the Western Plaguelands.”

• I have increased the drop chance for certain rare recipes from Molten Core from a TOTAL of 6% to 25%. This 25% is in line with the 25% for the recipe in AQ40 which is also needed for the license requirements.

• Increased the ammo count of warriors and rogues from 200 to 1000. I hear .z pull back takes up a lot of ammo.

• I have increased the drop rate for dungeon tokens from the final boss in Dire Maul North and added a chance for tokens from the tribute chest based on how many bosses you have spared. In total you have 5x chances to get a token. On average the chances add up to about 100%. I tested 20 runs and it did drop about 1 on average. Don’t forget that you can also do the trial quest from Bud who is somewhere in the middle of the Dire Maul complex.

• Songflower Serenade, Mol'dar's Moxi, Fengus' Ferocity, Slip'kik's Savvy can no longer be obtained as a direct buff. Instead, you will gain a scroll that you can use to buff all the players in a 100 yards radius. These scrolls are tradeable, they stack up to 20 and you can hold an unlimited number of them. However, I added a minimum level 50 for using them and for buffing, meaning that if you’re level 49 and below you will not receive this buff when someone casts it.

• Companions no longer use the aforementioned buffs as a reward for using a license of a superior tier to the current raid. When I implemented this I meant for it to be used as a way to speed up raids that were on farm, which would eventually provide a gradual increase in clearing speeds as more people upgraded their licenses. And so it did. My biggest problem is that it never felt quite right, and I didn’t really know where I should draw the line at the things I could give them, which is why I want to move away from making that decision arbitrarily and instead to allow you to earn the buff in a more normal and reasonable way.

• I made some changes to the healing logic, specifically to the way they coordinate heals.

Previously, I allowed only 1 healer per non tank and 3 healers per tank. That means only a healer at a time could heal a dps, and up to 3 healers at a time could heal a tank. We used this logic for a long time and we cleared the game many times with it. So it's tried and tested, but your local perfectionist resident thought it wasn't good enough.

This was the problem with it.
Let's say that your tank was missing 1000 HP.
Healer A starts to heal the tank for 800.
Healer B does the same.
Healer C does the same.
Healer D sees that there are 3 healers on the tank already so he looks for someone else to heal.

The problem with the way the code runs, is that those 3 healers would cast their heals within fractions of a second. Even though I have logic to make them cancel their heals if it would cause a 50%+ overhealing, because they would casts those heals so close after another, that overhealing logic would have no time to run and stop Healer B and C from overhealing. If Healer A, B and C would cast their heals at about 1 second apart from each other, then the logic would see that Healer A almost healed the tank for 800 so the tank is missing only 200. And Healer B who is also healing for 800 would overheal for more than 50% and interrupt his own heal, same for Healer C.

So there's the issue of overhealing and not stopping their heals in time, but also the issue of wasting their time. Because If the tank only needs a 800 + a 200 heal, then casting 3x 800 heals is wasting at least 1 healer's time completely.

So, Vyrael made a good suggestion to make the warrior tank decide if he should use Shield Wall depending if the incoming heals were enough to push him past a certain threshold. So I took that logic and incorporated it in the standing healer's logic.
The way it works now is that each healer is capable of seeing what the incoming heal on a target is. And I have removed the healer count cap. So any number of healers can heal a target, depending on their missing HP and healing amount.

Like in our previous example we have:

Tank is missing 1000 HP.
Healer A is casting a heal for 800.
Healer B sees that and casts a heal for 200.
Healer C sees that and decides to look for someone else to heal.

This way, there's little to no overhealing and Healer C is free to look for someone else to heal.

The overall healing logic in a nutshell is:

1) Sort the group members by their missing HP, from the most to the least.
2) Apply a certain multiplier, we can call it "fake health" just to differentiate between roles and other things. Eg. If a tank and a dps are both missing 1000 HP, because the tank is getting a small multiplier let's say 25%, then the bot thinks that the tank is actually missing 1250 HP. This is only for the purpose of prioritizing the targets to heal, not the actual heal choice.
3) Choose the group member who is missing the most HP.
4) Choose the first rank of a healing spell that can't fully heal the target. So if a healer has 3 healings spells, each with 10 ranks, then he makes a descending list of all the ranks and sort them by how much they heal from most to least.

If the tank is missing 1000 HP and rank 5 Heal would heal for 1100 HP, and rank 4 Heal would heal for 900 HP, then he will select rank 4 Heal to use.

So that's it in a nutshell. They also use certain big cooldowns and trinkets when a target they're trying to heal is below 50% hp, or multiple people are missing more than 50% hp.

I tested these changes in a few raids and I have noticed that their overhealing was almost negligible. Definitely the lowest I have ever seen them do, and they were pretty efficient already. You can see some overhealing from crits or the random number that is chosen when the spell is cast. Eg. if a heal can do between 100-120 heal, the bot does his calculations assuming the worst, meaning 100 heal, so it's possible that in reality he heals for 120. This is calculated when the spell is launched and he can't see the future.

I have also accounted for the priest's Prayer of Healing because i had a lot of issues with them overhealing with it.
What happened before was that Prayer of Healing wasn't seen by other healers and they though nobody was healing those targets affected by it, and because it has a huge cast time, most of the other healers would heal those targets while the priest was casting Prayer of Healing and would end up overhealing them. So now they see it and they account for it.

I didn't notice any issues but if you do let me know. I can always revert back to the good old system if need be.
All in all, this is all I can think about doing for the healing system. I can't conceptualize a better way for them to handle it, so hopefully it works well.

• With the .z use command, the companions will pickup the flag in WSG. A 1 minute fix that required no discussions and no debates, but a simple report.

• improved the logic for using bombs in general. They will wait until all mobs are gathered then use the bombs if there are at least 3+ enemies or the target is a boss.

• I'm testing paladin healers as melee attackers. They will judge bosses with light/wisdom/crusader.

On focused mode they will attack an enemy if both you and the paladin are in melee range of said enemy. If you go away from said enemy, the paladin will come and follow you.

On independent mode they will go and chase targets just like a meleedps. If you switch from independent back to focused they will go back to following you. It may be a good idea to set heal 75 or lower to allow the paladin time to attack.

This attack logic is at the bottom so is going to do everything else he was going to first.

As a TRIAL I am giving D5/R5 warrior tanks the possibility to wield Thunderfury. Do not get your panties in a bunch when I decide to change my mind next minute.

In order to unlock them access to it, you need to hold the City Protector title for that week. This title is granted by doing PVP and having the highest standing in your race. This is determined each week during honor calculations. That means, a grand total of 8 players, determined each week, can have access to this.

You know if you are a City Protector if your character visibly has the following title:

Players no longer share XP with other players when in a group. They always get the full amount just like when solo.

In addition, for every player after the 1st you get 25% more XP, up to a maximum of 100% more XP with a full party of 5 players.

This change only affects players and not companions. Companions will still divide your XP gained like normally.

No other changes to the XP calculations were made, including leaving the core XP modifiers in place, which are as follows.

1 person group = 1.0
2 person group = 1.0
3 person group = 1.166
4 person group = 1.3
5 person group = 1.4

Example before the change:
1 player: 100 XP
2 players: 50 XP
3 players: 39 XP
4 players: 33 XP
5 players: 28 XP

Example after the change:
1 player: 100 XP
2 players: 125 XP
3 players: 166 XP
4 players: 205 XP
5 players: 240 XP

4 players + 1 companion: 107 XP

Be advised that when you pair up with a high level character to whom the mobs are grey, your XP will be further reduced by 50%. That is normal.

This change affects XP from kills, quests and exploration.
This stacks with the XP shirt: New Beginnings.

I made this change for 2 reasons:
1) to encourage players to play together, although most of you will use it to multibox and that's fine.
2) to forever close the chapter on XP.

There will be no more XP events and no more XP discussions, this is it. If you don't want to benefit from the bonus XP then simply play solo and without the XP shirt and you'll have a standard vanilla XP.

  • Eg. Player A is in a group with 4 Companions. Player B is not in a group and sends Player A a group invite. Player A accepts the invite and joins Player B’s group. Player A’s Companions will join Player B’s group as well, up to capacity. Because Player B’s group only has 3 slots left, 1 of Player A’s Companions will despawn. Player B could turn his group into a raid group before inviting Player A, so that he can keep all of his Companions upon accepting.
  • Eg. If Player B invites Player A who has Companions but also another Player C in his group, then Player B will get an error saying that Player A is already in a group. A player can only be invited to a group if either he’s not in a group at all, or in a group with only his Companions.

• Players will be able to retain their Companions after leaving a raid group, as well as after leaving a party group that had a “stranger” in the party. A “stranger” is someone who’s not you or one of your Companions. IE. If PlayerA is in a party with 1 of his Companions and with PlayerB who also has 1 Companion, then if either of them leaves the party, both will be put in a party with just their Companion
• Fixed an issue where Companions would consider certain targets as invalid, caused by a recent change to dueling logic

• Companions won’t use their mounts before level 40
• Companions will err on the side of caution and overheal slightly when the healed targets are under attack
• Changed the number of allowed Companion healers to heal a tank from unlimited to 3. This count ignores Companion off-healers and real players. Non-tank targets can still only receive 1 heals from 1 Companion healer at a time. Hopefully this will allow for a better spread of heals instead of all healers trying to heal the most damaged tank at the same time
• Companion healers will do a better job deciding when to interrupt their heal if the target has already been healed while they were casting, and only allowing for a maximum of 50% of their spell’s heal amount to be overhealed. IE. If a target is missing 450 HP and their heal is 1000 points then they will cancel it, because they would be wasting 550 healing points. This is in addition to canceling their heal if the target is at full HP

    • You can specify which type to toggle on/off. If you give the Shaman a manual totem assignment, like: set totem Tremor Totem and then if you toggle earth totems off: .z set totem earth, he won’t use earth totems at all. If you toggle earth totems back on then he will use your manual assignment. Hopefully you should have good control over the Shaman’s totems this way.
• Companions will occasionally teleport to you if they can’t pathfind to your location. Needs to be monitored.
• Changed teleport to happen at your location instead of above you and disabled teleport messages to reduce chat spam
• Due to some issues with falling through floors and clipping through water, I’ve reverted a change that allows you to see the direction the Companions are facing. So now it may appear like they are facing the wrong way when fighting a target, but in reality they are facing correctly. More work will be needed on this in ze future.
• Companions will teleport to their leader when taxi flying, if the leader is not taxi flying anymore, probably because they got Warlock summoned.
• Companion Warlocks are now able to use Ritual of Summoning on players who are taxi flying.

• New quest added for the legendary shirt Silvertongue, an item that grants the wearer double reputation gains. The quest for the item can be picked up from Mr. Deathicus in Azshara. It requires level 60, 1 Mature Blue Dragon Sinew, 20 Tokens of Dungeon Expertise and 300 gold. Access to Mr. Deathicus can be gained from Sanath at X: 28 Y: 50 in Azshara

• New OnWhsiper set totems [on/off] - this will cause a Shaman to use or not his totems
• During Twin Emperor’s fight, Warlocks will be considered as tanks for the purpose of receiving any number of concomitant heals if their limiter is set to off. And they will use HP boosting consumables under this circumstance
• All .z commands have received a refactoring, improving many aspects about them, including making most of them role/class selector aware
• New .z cometoggle command. Selector aware. This will cause the affected Companions to move to your location if they are far from you, and stay at your location when they arrive. Sort of a combination between .z stop and .z comestay
• Fixed an issue where the Companions were poison cleansing the Son of Hakkar poison, which is needed for a mechanic during the Hakkar fight
• Reduced Son of Hakkar auto attack damage according to feedback received

LEVEL 60 COMPANION PROGRESSION EXPLAINED

  • To unlock access to raids: complete the recognition quests from Companion Representatives by the Innkeeper in all major cities.
  • To unlock licenses used to upgrade your Companions: complete recognition quests then complete the license quests.
• [Long version]:
  • Once you reach level 60 you can upgrade your T0D Companions (green gear) in 2 different ways: with dungeon licenses or raid licenses.
  • Even though all the raids are available, in order to access them you need to complete the recognition quests which require you to kill a boss at the end of a dungeon or raid.
  • The recognition quests can be picked up from the Companion Representatives by the Innkeeper in all major cities.
  • These quests come in 2 quest chains, one for the dungeons progression, one for the raid progression.

• New rules for Marketer (AH bot) buying stuff at double vendor price
  • Short version:
    • You must now set auction duration for 24h otherwise it won't buy.
  • Extended version:
    • If you want to sell your items for up to double vendor price then you must do the following.
      • 1) Go to any Auction House
      • 2) Post your items for up to 2x vendor price of that item (use modified aux addon that automatically does this, all you have to do is select the item you wish to sell and press Post)
    • These are the requirements for the Marketer to buy your items:
      • 1) Item must not be sold at any normal vendors.
      • 2) Item quality must be between normal and epic, no grey or legendary.
      • 3) Item price must be <= (lower or equal) to twice as much as you would normally get by vendoring it.
      • 4) Item must be posted for 24 hours duration. If you post for 8h or 2h, then the Marketer won't buy it.
      • 5) Item must have a sell price and a buy price. Some quest items do not have either, they will not be bought.
    • The Marketer will not buy his own items. The items he resells, if nobody buys them they will eventually be lost.
  • The reason for the Marketer to exist is to encourage players to use the AH. If you are patient, then the Marketer will reward you with more gold than you'd normally get by vendoring items. Items that players post for the Marketer will have a lifetime of about 48 hours (24 from you posting, 24 from the Marketer reposting), giving players more time to buy items provided by other players.

• New gear presets introduced for Companions
  • At level 60 they will start with T0D, which consists only of green items. By completing Licence quests you can upgrade them in 2 different ways, Dungeons and Raids. Both the Dungeons and Raids licenses go from T1 to T5, that’s T1D to T5D and T1R to T5R. There are numerous differences between these gear presets, but overall, the Dungeons are designed to be more proficient when clearing dungeons and vice versa. The differences consist in talents, gear and logic.
• The “attunement” part of the previous Licence quest has been split into their own quest series. You can pick up these quests from any of the representatives in major cities, next to the Innkeepers. You will need to complete these quests in order to unlock access to raids. The requirement for completing them is simply to defeat the last boss in the previous raid. IE. To unlock Blackwing Lair you must defeat Ragnaros. Upon completion, you will also be awarded a recognition item which will be used for the Licence quests.
  • The Licence quests have had their gold requirements reduced across the board to 500 gold. Everyone who had previously completed any T2+ quest has been reimbursed with the difference. Please log in within 30 days to receive that gold from your mail. The NPCs who give you these Licence quests can be found all throughout Azeroth, further supporting the lore that the Companions is a network of adventurers that’s spread all across the world.
  • In addition to gold, the Licence quests will require various items. Some of them can be obtained through professions, but new Token items were introduced as well. These tokens can be obtained from repeatable quests that can be found throughout the world, but they also drop naturally from bosses in the following instances: The Temple of Atal'Hakkar, Blackrock Depths, Blackrock Spire, Scholomance, Stratholme, Dire Maul, Zul’Gurub, The Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj.
• Companions have also received a comprehensive logic revision and many aspects pertaining to their general/class logic have been improved

• Grimando Goldenlock has been busy crafting a new shirt with a unique effect that you can earn through a quest. Speak to the <Companions> representative in the lvl 1 starting areas (Northshire, Deathknell, etc) to start the quest. Completing the quest will allow you to earn a shirt that cuts all your XP gain to 0 when worn. Its intended for battleground twinks or people who just want to stay at a certain level. It also has a unique graphic that's normally only available from an Alliance quest, but now Horde can use it too.

• You can clear a Companion’s Blacklist with the whisper deny remove all
• Allowed Focus and CC Marks to replace each other instead of telling you that it can’t be done.
• You can use .z ccmark or .z focusmark without any arguments to see the already assigned Marks of your Companions. Added this functionality to the addon by clicking the big selector CC Mark and Focus Mark buttons.
• In AQ20, Lieutenant General Andorov and the Kaldorei Elites now have a greatly reduced respawn timer if they die during the Rajaxx event. Normally you would have to wait 15 minutes between attempts, now you only have to wait 1 minute. Note that this does not let you cheese the event: They will only respawn after the event resets (i.e., you wipe on it). And you can still only get him as a vendor if you keep him alive until the end of the event.

• Companions clear their Paused, Passive, Staying and OnWhisper upon death.
• Fixed an issue where you could clear another player’s marks.
• Paladins can be assigned a second blessing by whispering them: set blessing second [name/link/id of blessing]
  • This requires that they have their primary blessing already set with: set blessing [name/link/id]
  • The second blessing will have no checks, unlike the first one.
  • For example, if you give them: set blessing Greater Blessing of Wisdom then they won’t cast it on Warriors, because they have no mana. If you also give them: set blessing second Greater Blessing of Might, then they will see that they can’t cast Wisdom on Warriors and give them Might instead.
  • Note that this configuration of setting 2 greater blessings may confuse paladins about which greater blessing should be applied to classes that can benefit from Might or Wisdom depending on their spec, like druids. So if you have a party with both a feral druid and a resto druid, you may want to set your second blessing as a regular, non-Greater blessing to prevent them from trying to just cast them both back and forth. Or just use Kings.

• Changed the priority order for Shamans totem usage. Considering that now you can specify what totems they should use, I thought it good for them to use Windfury Totem by default and you can change this to suit your particular needs.
• Level 50 to 59 Companions are not guaranteed to be randomized with Rare (blue) gear, but can now also have Uncommon (green) gear mixed in.
• Companions will only pass on monetary loot during raids instead of everywhere, based on feedback received. We want raids to be an additional source for gold but without impacting normal gameplay too much.
• Increased the Companions hiring cost based on feedback received and data collected. Their initial cost was designed to absorb some of the gold loss that would happen when the server restarted but since now you get your gold back should that happen, there’s no more reason for them to remain this cheap. In testing, previously, it proved that you could gain back dozens of times the return on investment if you were to be farming efficiently. We revised the cost so you can still gain many times the return on investment, but to a more reasonable degree.
• We want to further emphasize the importance of hiring only the number of Companions that you need for your activities, so the cost has been shifted more onto the 4th Companion, which will now cost as much as the first 3 combined. This could also encourage you to potentially seek out and team up with other players in order to reduce the cost of hiring.

• Starting with T3R, players will be able to purchase world buffs from Companion representatives. You need to have a T3R+ licence in your bag when talking to the representative (or the option won’t show), and you need a group of 20+ members. After using this service, your group will have a 2 hour cooldown before the service can be used again. The player who purchases the buff will share it with everyone in a 100 yards radius. Based on the licence in your inventory you will be presented with these 3 options:
  • T3R: Warchief's Blessing - 50 Gold
  • T4R: Warchief's Blessing + Dragonslayer - 100 Gold

• Companions will only attack Focus and CC marked enemies if both those enemies and the Companions are in combat.
• You will get your gold refunded whenever the server restarts. At server start a mail will be sent to you with the amount of gold you had spent on hiring your active Companions at restart.

• Removed the default cross and star raid marks from tanks and healers. They always seemed to need to be customized based on the situation and having some default values didn't particularly help.

  • You can get this information also by whispering: deny. The Companion will tell you what it does and how to use it. Don’t forget that you can whisper Hello to see the full OnWhisper functionality.
  • Currently this will work for the majority of the spells in their rotations, but some spells have some custom logic and won’t be affected. Let me know if you have any issues.
  • This pretty much covers my overhaul of the OnWhisper feature. If you have any more suggestions let me know.

• Fixed an issue where you couldn’t directly see quest items drops unless the party leader would first generate them by opening the mob’s loot window. This was caused by making the groups be FreeForAll by default. Instead, now the Companions will check if the group has GroupLoot method and change it to FreeForAll if you’re the party leader.
• Companions no longer accept items via trades, except for Healthstones, Consumables and Rogues still accept Lockboxes so they can open them for you.
• Added the possibility for Rogues and Cats to use auto attacks if they don’t know any other attack abilities when in stealth.
• OnWhisper:
  • Fixed an issue where the target didn’t get cleared and it would cause the Companions to chase after it when it respawned.
  • Companions can no longer cast negative spells on friendly targets.
  • Improvements to cast. You should find that the Companions are more reliable in succeeding their casts. You can now also cast by link. Whisper the Companion to list spells then whisper them: cast [spell link]}}, with shift + click to pass the link.
  • Reduced the cost of the portal service offered by Mages and Warlocks based on their tier. T0D: 10 Gold, T1R/T1D: 9 Gold, T2R/T2D: 7 Gold, T3R: 5 Gold, T4R: 3 Gold, T1R: 1 Gold.
• Companions no longer teleport to you if you tell them to stay, when far away.
• Fixed the New Beginnings shirt not grating 2x XP per kill when in a group. This was because only 1 person in the group receives the XP and shares it with the rest. So one of your Companions was receiving the XP and giving you the normal value. And now the 2x XP also applies to your pet.
• Fixed the Marketer not buying items without a buyout price correctly.

  • The price to transmog is the vendor sell price of the item you’re trying to mog.

  • It will check for items in your bags and bank.
  • Only the same subclass is allowed, like plate to plate and swords to swords.
  • All qualities allowed.
  • No necklace, rings, trinkets, tabard or shirt allowed.
  • Mog persists through relog.
  • If you delete the source item then you will lose the mog on relog.
  • If you unequip and then equip a mogged item then you will have to relog or refresh appearance at the NPC to reapply the visual.
  • Set items not appearing as part of the set is just a visual thing. The set bonus remains as normal.

• Player Raid Progression. Raids must be completed in the order they were released. MC -> BWL -> AQ -> Naxx. This is related to the Companions Raid Licence quests. Eg. To be able to enter Molten Core you need to have completed the T1R Licence quest.
• Companion commands are now personal. You can only give commands to your own Companions and nobody else’s.
• Reintroduced the AH deposit cost because with the addition of the Marketer it’s not longer needed.

• Companions will no longer be forced to stay and eat/drink. If you move they will follow regardless of their hp/mana. If you tell them to stay then they will drink/eat. So you have overall control over them this way.
• Set the announcement for server auto restart for honor calculations to 2 hours from 15 minutes. This should give you plenty of time to finish whatever dungeon you may be doing.
• Stopped the honor decay. This should make it less grindy to reach your desired ranks and not have to worry about losing your progress. I will monitor this and see how it goes.

• Fixed an issue where despawned pvp bots didn’t leave the queue correctly.
• Fixed an issue where pvp bots were added at the end of a BG, which would result in multiple unnecessary BGs to get started.
• Fixed the Companion NPC Recruiter in Light’s Hope Chapel and Cenarion Hold having the wrong faction ID and being attackable by Horde players.
• Healers will interrupt their heals if the target is at full health. This will help them save a bit of mana.

• Made it possible to queue up with a group of Companions for Alterac Valley.
• Better debuffing coordination.

• Non tank Companions will use First Aid Bandages when in combat, below 50% health and don’t have any attackers.
• Companions will only use healing potions and bandages when they are not receiving direct heals. This is with the hope that they will use them in a pinch rather than wasting them when the healer is already on their case.
• Rogues will use Deadly Poisons in raids.
• Threat limiter implemented. All dps classes will stop dpsing if their threat reaches 90% for melee or 110% for ranged of the tank with the highest threat on that boss. This is for bosses only. In practice, tanks do a banged up job of generating threat against bosses, assuming that you give them some time on the pull, and only rarely do some Warlocks happen to reach those thresholds and have to hold back a bit. This is just a fail safe to ensure that the dpsers don’t accidentally pull aggro like stupid. In practice, they didn’t seem to and tanks held a solid grip.
• Molten Core all bosses logic. Companions can clear all 10/10 bosses. I’ve personally killed all of them over half a dozen times. As long as you know the boss mechanics, how to control the Companions and are decently geared then you will do fine. The clear times have been between the 50th and 10th percentile, so average and below average. That means there’s room for you to optimize but also room to fail.

• Improved the usage of non-GCD spells for Companions. This should make them more responsive.
• Implemented a mutex system for different spells like Shaman totems, Paladin bubbles and spell interrupts. This should make them coordinate better.

• Overhauled Shaman totems and made totems and Paladin blessings play nice with each other. They are mutually exclusive with a few exceptions, which means that you’ll have to think carefully about what benefits you want from each if you plan on bringing both classes in a group. Paladins use blessings out of combat, Shamans use totems in combat and they don’t try to override each other.
• Shaman logic revisited. Improvements, tweaks and fixes.
